Lilipop is the creative wonder of Kate, who loves to draw and embroider. “I’m often inspired by the beautiful fabrics I find, they make me think of girls’ dresses. This weekend, one commenter will win a selection of fabric fat quarters, some cute labels and a gorgeous ‘button it’ wrist band pin cushion from Owl and Sewing Cat.

Owl and Sewing Cat is a pretty sewing shop situated in the seaside town of Eastbourne, East Sussex. The shop carries a range of contemporary ‘easy sew’ (and ultra-cute!) fabrics including designers such as Amy Butler, Michael Miller and Tanya Wheylan. Owner Tracey was excited to share her goals for the shop with us:

Hot on the heels of the latest trend of ‘make do and mend’ and the revival of the sewing machine, Owl and Sewing Cat is pleased to have opened its retail shop and the online shop is useful if you can’t get to Eastbourne!

Owl and Sewing Cat is also on a mission to get as many people as possible sewing, and is running sewing lessons for those wanting to learn, with simple kits available to have you making stunning bunting, bags and cushions in no time. It’s a great way to spend some time with family, friends or simply take some time for yourself.

It’s a big giveaway this weekend. Just sayin’.

This weekend, one commenter will win admission to True Scrap II, coming up on the 20th – 22nd October. True Scrap is a scrapbooking convention in your own living room, and includes seventeen workshops (and some other fabulousness) you can watch online while chatting with other participants. Plus everyone gets permanent access to the recordings of each workshop so you can watch them at any time that suits your schedule. Want a taste of True Scrap? You can purchase individual workshops from the first event right here. For the first event, my class was all about getting plenty of pages from your stash so you can stretch your scrappy spending and eliminate the waste factor. Or you can pick up a stamping workshop with Jennifer McGuire, texture tips with Nic Howard, photography with Tracey Clark or anything else that was part of the spring event.

I’m teaching a brand new workshop at True Scrap II this October, and it’s all about my album system. I’ve touched on my album-keeping philosophy a bit here, here and here, but that’s just an introduction. In this workshop I’ll be covering all new content and taking you through my whole process for how much I plan in advance, how I make it all work without stress while I’m making pages and how I use extra photos, writing and ephemera to add another level to albums that takes them from just a collection of pages to something that tells the story to anyone who opens that book, even if they don’t ‘understand’ the scrapbooking thing. These are ideas that have made me so excited to scrapbook and I’ve never, ever been happier with my albums. So I’m very excited to share this with all the True Scrap participants next month!

This weekend, one commenter will win this gorgeous prize of a handcrafted Collage and Badge from Julie Kirk.

Julie Kirk & The Carousel Zebra is a shop stocked with collages, badges and greetings cards made from interesting, retro, vintage, re-cycled and found materials. Each unique item is made from a combination of new papers mixed with illustrations and patterns taken from Julie’s collection of old books, magazines, dress-making patterns and fabrics. She says that the words she adds to her work, also cut from vintage sources, are an important element in her attempt to tell new stories using old materials.

Julie is currently working on an online class which will look into combining scrapbooking with the interesting, vintage materials she uses in her work.
