Inspiration from legwarmers!

friends...and legwarmers

I am a skirt and dress type of girl. I am also a coldest-person-in-the-room kind of girl. And oh my if these two things don’t always mix.

But thanks to 1980s fashion flashbacks, I have found perfection in the return of legwarmers. So much so that nearly every photo of me since about the first of October 2009 will include…legwarmers.

They are perfect for keeping warm on cold (and exceedingly muddy) coastal hikes.

They dress up, they dress down, they make you feel like standing on your toes and twirling along the seawall!

So as far removed from scrapbooking as that may seem, I’ve been loving the inspiration they can give, be it in texture or colour or the idea that the top half of the page could have elements that are narrower and more central with the bottom half of the layout having more bulk and texture. Okay, so that seems a stretch but that is exactly how the mind works sometimes!

And… just how many legwarmers were in the costume trailer for this fabulous gem?

I’ve come clean with my 1980s fashion love… is there any fashion item you love no matter how wrong it may seem?

I love any clothing item in the color pink—even pants and shorts. I know some people consider that “wrong” but I’m just a pink kinda gal! :)

Oh, and thanks for the great flashback memory with that video!!

I’m a cardigan gal. I just love them and have them in all colours. Are they still associated with grannies?

I have to admit I have a croc obsession. I realise that they may now be past their sell by, and always were a bit cult/crafty (which was ok cos I fitted that bill) but I just find them sooooo comfortable, and am so not able to wear uncomfortable shoes. So much so, however, I’ve got 3 pairs of the ‘high heel’ crocs…so no one but me (and croc fans) know that they are croc brand, but they are super comfy! Waiting for a new pair to arrive v. soon (or whenever the airports open again?!).

I think you know my obsession, 73 isn’t too old for beaded sweaters, I have loved them since the 50’s. Oh, dear that’s a long time, well, too late to change now.

In the winter, I love beanie hats, I have a shelf of them by the front door and I grab whichever goes best with my outfit. I bought several when I was in Estonia … those people love their wooly hats!

I love cardigans. In fact I am making my first attempt at knitting one now….very slowly. I guess it’s ok to like cardigans when you are a granny. LOL.

I seem to just want to wear my green and white hiawatha slippers with poms poms ALL THE TIME. Black ugg-alikes have to do for work etc…
