Let's get the party started!

hybrid scrapbook page

Since The Boy has broken the ice, it’s time to get the party started with girls who know how to scrap! (And have little intention of trading in our stash of pretty paper for the latest video game console.) And so I have our very first challenge of the weekend to get the party started.

If you’ve been paying attention lately, you might know I have a new class that starts this Monday, and it’s all about getting more from your printer. Until very recently I used my printer for photos only, and I know so many scrappers who do the same or perhaps also print some journaling. It’s time we got more from our printing investment, right?

So here’s the first step in this challenge: have a look through these free digital kits. Don’t run scared: this challenge is not to become a digital scrapbooker. You won’t need any special software, and because all those kits are free, you don’t need to buy anything. Have a look at the kits and choose one or more that you like and download your chosen freebies.

One of your big challenges over the weekend is going to be making a layout (or another project) by printing out some free digital elements to use as your embellishments. There will be more to this challenge over the course of the weekend – but for now, pick some photos you would like to scrap, find a kit or two to match those photos. If you really want to be an over-achiever at this point, you can pick out some paper stash to coordinate!

But we have plenty of time to work through the challenge. Every good party needs some good party chatter, right? Well, consider this post chit-chat central this weekend! Let us know what kit you picked, what photos you’re going to scrap, link us up to your blog to say hello, ask any questions you want answered by me or the party guests throughout the weekend—whatever you want to talk about!

Lovely to see you here!

I have a quick(ish?) question actually. I don’t have a working printer of any sort and I would like to think about investing in a photo printer (or maybe asking Father Christmas for one). I’d love to be able to print my pictures in different sizes, particularly smaller, but I don’t want to sacrifice the quality I get when I have them printed by professionals. So my question is this: can anyone recommend a good photo printer that will let me print lots of pictures in all sizes?

Can’t wait to start scrapbook challenges!

I’ve got a Canon Selphy which prints several sizes UP TO 6×4 but is a dye sublimation process (google it!) so very good quality. I considered getting an A4 printer recently but discovered that to get one of the same quality was £500+ so went for a Canon pixma which is v good for general colour printing (like Shimelles downloads) & to stick with the professionals for larger prints.

Downloaded 3 kits. Farmer’s Market, May Freebie and Back to School. Wow, I didn’t realize that 2 Peas had that many free kits on the site. Can’t wait for this weekend as I have downloaded many digital kits but have never used them. Thanks for the inspiration to use the kits.

So psyched for a new class with you – feels like it’s been too long! I laughed out loud from your comment that ‘The Boy’ isn’t much on the chit chat. After twenty years of marriage, we’re in the same boat. Good thing that opposites attract – gives us more to scrap about! ~Monda

Not sure I can get involved this weekend but I wish I could. I’ve only just come across this event but I have to go to bed. I have acquired two new grandaughters and we are going on a train ride tomorrow. They are eight years old and have never been on a train! Might end up with loads of photos though.

Thank You Shimelle for organising this for us.xx I have downloaded the ‘Give Freely’ kit. I’ve only dabbled in digi before & completely forgotten what to do! Looking forward to the weekend now. :-D Hoping to get something blogged over the weekend. Take care. Gez.xx

  24. Susan Says:

Well, I have no boy to write about, but I have a daughter who doesn’t scrapbook and is quite capable of the “turning to stone stare”. Of late though, it is more of “a take my picture and you’ll die” kind of a stare. Despite the eye rolling and hand in front of the face to ensure that I can’t take a picture, I do love her and she does tolerate my scrapping things other than her.

It has been a week of stress, Wisdom teeth removal (hers), hard drive crashes (mine), new computers (also mine) and I am looking forward to some stress free scrapping! and my first online class!

  25. Madeiline St Onge Says:

  29. Sandi M. Says:

I had to have help to get my kit downloaded. Thankfully my techy husband had time. It wasn’t clear to me how to chose a kit. I’m still here though.
