Sparkles Aplenty (scrapbooking & making cards)
If I’ve ever emailed you more than a couple sentences, chances are I signed it with love and glitter, shimelle. And I mean ‘ever’ because I’ve been signing my emails like that since I was fifteen or sixteen years old. A few times I’ve veered away, and each time, someone would reply and ask if something was wrong because I hadn’t signed off in my usual sparkly way. So the glitter is apparently here to stay.
The first year I had an email account, I tried to sign off with love and something unique each time. Love and peace, love and sunscreen, love and obscure literary references… but love and glitter somehow stuck. I used glittertastic as a screen name for a long time and when someone had already taken Shimelle as a username on Twitter, I opted for glittershim. So let it be clear: I am very much pro-glitter.
If you want to hear more of my ramblings about glitter and how it pertains to scrapbooking, have a listen to this week’s edition of the Paperclipping Roundtable – episode 80. Ana Cabrera of Craftification and I talk about all sorts of crazy glitter fun with the regular PRT crew of Noell, Nancy and Izzy. (I even made sure I was wearing glittery nail polish while we recorded the episode, but sadly you can’t really see that from podcast. Imagine it, anyway. Sparkles aplenty.)
For something a little more visual, I have a page (complete with embarrassing junior high photo!) over on the JBS blog too!
(And a happy little card with a bit of sparkle to try to will the weather to give us a few more sunny days!)

Although I am MANY years older than you, I grew up in southeast Kansas and you grew up in northeaster Kansas, both in VERY small towns.

Thanks Shimelle, for the glittery inspiration. As I scrapped and listened to the podcast, I took my Icicle stickles and rubbed it on the ribbon that was on my tag creation. Loved it! Once again you provided great inspiration.

Shimelle, thank you for adding a little “glitter” to our lives. It makes my day when there is an email from you. Keep shining.

As your fingers are always polished so nicely in your videos I wanted to share a stickle use my daughter loves. She paints her toenails, coats them with stickles, then covers it all with a top coat of clear polish. She finds this to be much more glittery than normal fingernail polish, and it lasts longer too. She has used the clear stickles, of course, but some of the colored ones make unique combos depending on the color of your polish. Also it’s surprising how little of the stickles it takes to cover her nails! I enjoyed listening to you on the PRT; I hope you get to be on again soon!

I was so excited when I saw you were on PRT this week. Haven’t gotten through the whole episode yet but loving it so far!

No Layout is complete without a bit of bling in my humble opinion.
As for how you sign emails, this is a huge problem for me, I still haven’t found something I’m happy with, I sign everything hugs usually because if you meet me I’ll hug you but I always wanted something a little more original, I think I’ll spend the weekend musing on this

I enjoyed the podcast and love how everyone has a different approach to glitter – and that there is room for all!

“Sparkles Aplenty” — just in time for making Halloween cards! Thanks Shimelle, for teaching me to fear no glitter :-)

I love the JBS layout, and I will be listening to the Roundtable shortly! …just wanted to say, I grew up in one of those towns, too- In NW Illinois, population 1500 (it still says that, I think. Apparently someone moves in for every person who moved out- or else they haven’t bothered to update the sign- lol!) My HS graduating class was 42. Now I live in the Phoenix, AZ metro area, the 5th largest metro area in the US— QUITE a change, for sure!!
