are you a scrapbooker?

cherry blossom tree
I love the first day of a new class. It’s also somewhat insane, because everything tends to happen at once, and all the technical stuff comes into play so there’s editing email addresses and resetting passwords and helping people get my messages out of their junk mail folder. But by now I have a bit of a system for everything so it doesn’t outweigh the amazing stuff that happens on day one. Just like the first day of school when everyone has energy and puts their best foot forward. I love seeing the results of day one appear on our class board and for this class that means it has hit the blogosphere too. Today my Google Reader has popped up plenty of entries that relate to our first prompt, so that has made me smile so very much.

I also love that planning and researching and writing a class also gives me that back to school energy – just like lesson planning did when I was teaching. So many teachers dislike lesson planning and prefer to teach something that is already outlined, but devising new ways to present material was one of my very favourite parts of the job. Every once in a while I still get a chance to write academic curriculum and I still love it! So in writing the new class, I also have new things I want to share here, new pictures I want to take, new videos I want to make and so forth. Everything in a creative circle.

It’s also made me curious about you and why you happen to be reading this. That note over there to the top right (you know, that stuff you can’t see if you’re reading this through a blog reader – so jump over for a minute) makes it pretty clear I’m not ashamed to call myself a scrapbooker. It creates conversations that are always interesting, for sure! I’ve learned there are so many ways to explain what it means. So I’m curious… how would you define yourself, oh blog reader? Even if you’re reading there quietly and don’t really go in for leaving a comment, I’d love for you to click and let me know this tiny bit about you. (Again, you won’t see this in most readers, so click over just this once. Thanks!)

Have a fabulous week!

I enjoyed the lesson planning stage when I was teaching, also. Now I’m leading Bible Studies so I still get to plan and prepare classes! Loved prompt one and got my survey posted today too.

    Teacher, scrapbooker, photographer…..

I love planning too, but I have too much school work to plan and I should not be reading blogs…but I needed a break and some inspiration!

I read your blog firstly because I love your scrapbooking style and all that you can teach us, secondly just because I love the way you write and tell stories and I enjoy peeking into other people’s lives!

I do scrapbook – I love it – but it’s not my main or only interest. I am a book-binder, primarily, also now a teacher (the opportunities are building up and I’m doing my best to take my chances when they come!), I also like other crafts – particularly those involving paper (I love paper!).
I come to read your blog for a number of reasons, including the scrapbooking, but not only that; I like the style of your blog, I enjoy the various topics you post about – including yourself and your various travels. I also like joining in with your online courses and the blog adds an extra dimension to those too. Also, you often collaborate with other bloggers and crafters, which adds more interest again. And I just like your blog because you seem such a nice person!

I’ve been a lurker for quite some time now. I’m more of a theoretical scrapper – any actual scrapping i do has to come after being a mother/wife/geologist/housekeeper, etc. My crafty preferences, when i can indulge in them, are sewing, embroidery/cross stitch, and scrapbooking. I enjoy looking at your blog for scrapbook inspiration (i.e., pretty paper) and great picture taking tips.

  10. Mel Says:

Well yes, I’m totally a scrapbooker, but I also love photography and travel and teaching and cupcakes and, frankly, anything you care to write about!! :)

  11. Marie Says:

Can we have an option for “I’m totally a scrapbooker, but my pesky life keeps getting in the way of actually doing any scrapbooking”? Sign me right up for that one! LOL.

  12. Debby B. Says:

Think I’d have to partially agree with Marie in that I’d love to do some scrapbooking, and even try and blog, but life gets in the way! I have a 20 hour a week job that seems to take up more time than my full-time job did! Love looking at your pages and your photo. tips. Still have a huge wadge of journalling from JYC2010 that one day will become a scrapbook. Have loads of materials just no space or time!!! Perhaps this summer will be better?

  13. Kirsty A Says:

I’m a scrapbooking first, but also photographer, card maker, genealogist and blogger – and Shimelle-junkie! I love lesson planning, like teaching the planned lessons, and tolerate doing the marking. (I’m aso a wierdo who doesn’t mind Ofsted-style record keeping!)
