From the heart

Oh goodness—what a week. Exciting things but I can’t tell yet. Hate that! But after the insanity of it all, some sewing. Oh, the therapy.

Even better, sewing for a cause. Melanie from Fiskars has set us up for some cool goodies. She’s got some of these fab tools to send to a lucky winner.

To win, click on this, this and this, then leave me a comment about your most favourite heart-shaped thing in the world. One lucky commenter will receive the goodies from Melanie!

Or here’s another way to help. This week, I’ll be selling a few pillows on Etsy, and all the proceeds will be donated to AHA and the BHF (half to each). The first one is this pink and green log cabin, and it can be yours here.

Happy Sunday, with extra heart shapes thrown in!

Fab pages Shimelle, I only discovered your website a couple of weeks ago but it’s fab, I’m loving the daily projects. My favourite heart shaped thing in the whole wide world is a piece of A4 paper which my daughter drew hearts all over in all different sizes and wrote I love you mummy in them. When she was very tiny and had only just learned to write and draw hearts!! so cute.

I love hearts. I have hearts all round my home. My favourite is hanging in a window on a piece of leather. It is a large shaped clear class heart my mother used to wear when I was little. She would come and kiss me goodnight and this heart would usually bang me on the nose as she bent down!

My favorite heart would have to be my fathers. He passed away of a heart attack when I was 11 yrs old and I’ve missed him every day since. He missed so much of my life, seeing me grow up, marry, have my son (his namesake but I am fortunate to have the memories I do. When I was 12, a group of us kids had a fundraiser where we turned our garage into a haunted house and charged admission. All the money raised went to the heart fund in memory of my dad. I still have the letter somewhere that they sent us for our $11 donation. That was a lot of money to us back then.

Five or six years ago when my middle DD was about 5, her friend’s mum took the 2 girls to the paint it yourself pottery place. As Mother’s Day was approaching, they had a display the following week of the good stuff waiting to be collected, and there was a little heart shaped box, painted yellow with Mummy on the top in green which I admired. When Mother’s Day dawned, I had a little package, and it was, of course, that very box. xx

...mine is in a mini book I made in rememberance of our little girl LilyGrace who was stillborn 10.4.04. It really is so special because it holds memories of the short time we had her with us, her little hand & foot prints & some of the plans we had made for her… Infact it was in creating that little book of memories that I stumbled across UK scrappers purely by chance & have been addicted to making books & scrapping ever since – it opened a whole new world to me & although it was very much not the world I had been expecting at 9 months pregnant I am so glad I found such a wonderful pastime…

Wonder if he ever thinks abouit me?

Years ago my 2 oldest daughters made a plaster mold of their handprints (the molds were hearts). They painted them and after they were all done I took them to get framed. The framing cost me a bundle, but it was totally worth it – now they’re 11 and 12 and it’s so sweet to see their little 3 and 4 year old handprint masterpieces hanging on the wall! Now I just need to figure out how to get one made and displayed for my youngest daughter (now 5!)

My fave heart isn’t actually heart shaped, but resides in a heart. It’s the artifical valve in my Mom’s heart that keeps her with us everyday. You can hear it when you are near her, it clicks, it’s one of my daughters most favorite sounds in the world. She says it’s her Mimi’s heart talking just to her!

I think the most beautiful heart is my boyfriends heart. We’re now together for 11 years 5 years ago I became very ill and he kept having faith that everything would turn out oke one day. To me that’s amazing and when I want to thank him for all the time he took care of me, our house and animals during my illness he shakes his head and tells me that normal. And he tells me that it’s not him doing the work but his heart becaurse it’s so full of love for me.
I hope you understand my story, it’s hard writing english. Greetings Marieke – the netherlands.

It sounds strange but my fave heart is my own if I had not made steps to change my life style to look after my heart then I might not have much time left with my family and to look after my husband when he had his accident. In looking after my heart I have shown my children the way for them to look after theirs.
