You Think You Know...

So, so excited for this. A class totally different than anything we’ve done so far. The sort of thing I think about when I get into big dream mode. Except it’s for real.

You Think You Know Me is not a class with a supply list, a set of instructions or a guide for creating something similar to many other participants.

You Think You Know Me is a class that pushes you to create something all your own, while offering inspiration from a range of artists with a variety of styles.

You Think You Know Me is about you.

You Think You Know Me has no right or wrong answers. But it does have a workbook.

You Think You Know Me can include lots of pictures, a few pictures, lots of words or a just a few words.

You Think You Know Me can be a 12×12 scrapbook, a smaller format album, a minibook, a handbound book, a journal or a three-dimensional keepsake.

You Think You Know Me has no deadlines and no stress.

Here’s the deal: *Sign up between now and the 15th of October.

*On the 10th of October (or when you sign up between the 10th and the 15th), you’ll receive an electronic workbook with questions to think about.

*Between the 15th and the 25th of October, you’ll receive 10 idea sheets filled with the work of a team of artists. Each has completed the project in her very own style, from clean and graphic to grungy and hands-on.

*You can create your project at any speed. Work along with the October time frame, or keep the materials and create when it fits your calendar.

*You can listen to audio files to cheer you on throughout your project.

*You can publish your images to the web via a community blog.

*You can chat as much or as little as you want on an opt-in email list for the group.

Rose-coloured times

Yesterday was a positively brilliant day filled with the best ever exam results from my students, and the boy had exam success too with a mention in the financial times. Topped off with a fab meal at The Bell with two new friends and neighbours, I have been on cloud nine for the last twenty-four hours.

Good moods do great things, you know.

By request, I’ve posted a little sneak peek here of the new class, Learn Something New Every Day. Remember these are little pages in a small format book, and you’ll realise just how easy it is to achieve an entry every day. {By the way…I know that page includes a little polaroid-style print, but don’t fret—this isn’t something you need! I was just playing with my little instant camera but in the class we explore lots of different ways of getting photos onto your daily pages.}

But because I am in a good mood, I’ve got a free place to give away. You have to comment here to enter. Sometime over this three-day weekend I will put all the names in a jar and draw one to do this course for free. {And I don’t know about you, but when I am shopping, free is my favourite price.} And because I would never want to make something annoying for those of you who signed up straight away {thank you!}, if you comment you will be put in the draw too. If you win, you can choose to give the class to a friend or have a refund of your class fee. It’s all good.

Spread the word!
And have a brilliant weekend.

Right: Back to School

Learn Something New

Ready to go back to school?

Ok, really I wouldn’t mind a bit more summer…but time keeps on going, so we make the best of it. One of the highlights of September has to be that back to school feeling. Even if you’ve been out of school for years, you can buy yourself a new notebook and feel like life is a little bit new.

Learn Something New Every Day is the first class for our autumn term. Over the month of September, we’ll make thirty entries in this small-format book designed to getting your eyes open to observing your world.

Worried about time? Fair enough. It does take time to make an entry every day. But the pages are small (6 inches square) and we’ll use some short cuts to keep your supplies to a nice small collection and we’ll focus on summary journalling rather than documenting each day with a full report. And every day you have the option of just duplicating the example page, so that could even eliminate your thinking time. We’re talking minutes every day here.

In this class, you get:

*An introductory shout-out to get you going

*30 daily prompts with full colour samples

*The chance to chat and share your work with other artists

*Posting access on the group blog

Class begins September 1. Don’t be late!

I’m sorry, this class is now sold out. Please e-mail me if you would like to prebook a place on this class for a future month.

Any questions? Just stick ‘em in the comments & I’ll get an answer to you asap.

Feels great to have something enjoyable for back to school!
