scrapbooking

Thanks so much for joining me for whatever part of this three days of crafting you could! It’s been lovely to see your photos and projects pop up across the blogosphere and in page galleries!

For our final giveaway, just leave a comment on this post sharing a thought about why you love scrapbooking. That’s all — just a little positive thought about this creative outlet that everyone here has in common.

One comment will be randomly chosen to win your choice of a knitted bow headband or a knitted flower wearable from The Funky Beau, Rachel’s lovely folksy shop with cute and affordable hand-knitted accessories.

Please see this post for all the deadlines and details about this weekend. You have until bright and early Tuesday morning to enter this and all the other prize drawings from this weekend.

I’m also going to throw in some extra prizes here and there. All of the prize drawings announced on each post will be randomly chosen, but I’ve saved some shimelle.com class passes to give to a few scrappers who have really made the most of the crop by taking part in many challenges or by creating a real masterpiece for one of the challenges. So those are out there to be won too!

All of the prize winners will be announced on Wednesday, as the challenges are open until Tuesday morning.

Thanks again and I hope you had a lovely weekend, no matter how much scrapping you had on the schedule.

I love scrapbooking because I have met some amazing people, like you.And made some fantastic new friends. But I mainly scrapbook to preserve memories for my children and hopefully one day grandchildren. It will be my legacy.

  3. Jenny B Says:

Scrapping is my creative outlet, my little bit of ‘me’ time. The pages I create aren’t for future generations (although, if they last that long and those generations want them, great!) they aren’t even for my family, although they enjoy them too. They’re personal to me, kinda like a diary, just not so deep.

I come from a very artistic background, but scrapping has become my art.

Thanks for the weekend Shimelle! I’ve had so much fun. Off to take a few more photo’s then tidy up a little and look through other folks work!

    Jenny xx

  6. Kirsty Smith Says:

I love to scrapbook for so many reasons: I love having the daily details preserved, I adore pretty papers, I can’t get enough of taking photos…and I also love that scrapbooking time is for me to focus on the people and things that really matter to me and to reclaim a little cutting and sticking time out of a busy life!

  7. Becky Says:

Thank you for a brilliant online crop. I scrap because I find it so relaxing and so many other reasons – to share my life with future generations, to remember for myself how my children have grown up and to record how I feel about my life. I shall be coming back to all the challenges you have set this weekend as I just haven’t had the time to do them all and have to return to work tomorrow, but I WANT to do them! I shall ensure that I make ME time over the next few weeks to complete every one :D

  8. rinda Says:

I love scrapbooking b/c I love it when my kids page through the scrapbooks and laugh over their memories.
    Hugs,
    Rinda

  9. pauline Says:

Thank You Shimelle for some fantastic inspiration as usual! I scrapbook to remember the trivial and special moments from my family’s life so they have a wonderful memento of things they probably won’t remember when they are older. I have no photos from my childhood and I would not want that for them! Scrapbooking is so much more than just having a photo it is a personal piece of art especially for my children from me!!

  10. Jacky Scales Says:

Thanks for a great weekend,Shimelle. I scrapbook for so many reasons…mainly as a creative outlet and to keep family memories.

  11. Lisa Says:

Thank you for another fabulous weekend! I absolutely love your challenges.
I have always been creative but since I bought my first edition of Scrapbook Inspirations I have never looked back.
I love the creativity, the individuality and the fact that anything goes!!
I also like the fact that I am recording a little bit of history.

  12. Ali H Says:

Hi Shimelle – Thanks for an inspiring weekend ! I have tried as many photo challenges as I could – and will still do the rest even when the deadline is over ! I have only got to 2 of the scrapping challenges but will definately keep going on those too !
I don’t have children to scrap for or about, just my man & me (and my lovely family !) and a few friends. But somehow it doesn’t matter. I love the creative process, the thinking about fun or lovely photos when I am out & about, the pleasures of shopping for, handling & using my stash. The creative process of building a page & capturing the essence of something. I also love looking back months or years later & warming my hands & heart around the flame that is fond memories. Thanks for a great weekend – looking forward to your next on line gathering of creative minds ! Ali xx

  13. Maya Says:

Just one of the many reasons: I scrapbook because I like to create beautiful things.

  14. Lou Says:

I love to scrapbook because I have discovered why I have always loved art and photography. I have always envied my sisters artistic skills (ask me to draw and you will get stick figures!!!) but now I have a craft where I can express my views, document my life and make great friends! And I love that feeling of satisfaction of putting that last page in the album.
Thanks for providing so much joy and inspiration over this weekend and in your classes!

  15. Lisa-Jane Johnson Says:

Thank you for the inspiration this weekend Shimelle! I scrapbook to concentrate on the good times I have with my children – to remind me its not all hard work. It helps me fight post-natal depression to focus on the great times we have as a family and my crafting is a great escape.

  16. Carolyn Phillips Says:

Thanks for a great weekend, with so many challenges to choose from. I’ve done all but one of the photography challenges (and may sneak that in during the morning) and several LO, more than I expected. Tomorrow will be dedicated to getting them all online and then going back through your posts to comment with the links…and then the rest of the week to meander through everyone else’s work.

What do I love about scrapping…I love that it is individual, unique to each person, situation, photo, emotion and you can’t do it wrong.

  17. Jennifer Says:

Thanks sooo much for another great online crop weekend Shimelle! I am planning on scrapping into the wee hours tonight, and loving every minute of it! (Even when something goes wrong and it make me go ‘grrr’!)

I have many reasons for scrapping, I won’t share them all because other people have covered them already (history, diary, art, etc). My scrapbooking thought for you is one I’ve had over most of the weekend: it’s ‘great fun’! This is my daughter’s fave phrase at the moment, when she’s loving a game she’s playing she turns to me and says ‘great fun mummy!’, and I keep hearing it in my head to apply to my joy of scrapbooking. It just lifts my heart to create and play and make something to treasure. xxx

  18. Karen M Says:

Scrapbooking helps me to remember things that make me happy long after I would normally have forgotten them.

    Thanks for a lovely weekend.

  19. Teresa Says:

What a great weekend, Shimelle! Thank you so much for putting this together. With a newborn and toddler in the house these days, I’ve had zero time to scrapbook. Your challenges have reminded me that it doesn’t have to take a lot of time to scrap the meaningful memories I want to capture and that I can get quite a bit done with very short amounts of time! :) I’ve been rejuvenated and can’t thank you enough.

  20. Lizzie Says:

Thank you, Shimelle, for all the hard work you have done for us! I have enjoyed reading along and now have a list of projects to try. I’ve even managed to find time to make one layout (quite a feat for a weekend day!) and take a few photos.
Why do I like scrapbooking? I love to create, I love paper, I love colour, I love to make something that has meaning and memories attached to it. There – I think that just about says it all!
Again, thank you so much for a great weekend. Hope you got as much enjoyment from it as your eager and keen participants!

  21. Cate Says:

I’ve really enjoyed this Crop so thank you for organising it! I love scrapbooking because it pushes me out of my comfort zone and makes me be more creative when living my everyday life.

  22. Mary Bainbridge Says:

I love digi scrapping because I can start with a blank canvas and create from the very beginning. Making my own pps and all the embellishments. Don’t have to use anyone else’s creation except fonts.

  23. Mary Bainbridge Says:

Thank you so very much for a very very enjoyable weekend. by far the best way to spend a rainy day, on Saturday

  24. maja Says:

Scrapbooking is therapy! This crop was really cool, thanks for inspiring me, Shimelle!

  25. Natalie Williams Says:

I’ve been waiting for some inspiration for awhile as its been ages since I did any scrapbooking but after this weekend I’ve done some pages I really love and had so much fun. I love scrapbooking for so many reasons: I love being able to DO something with my photos, I love having a creative outlet and I love all the pretty papers of course :)

  26. beverleynoelle Says:

Scrapbooking is my creative outlet, it allows me to relive the events in the pictures and if in the future those that will find these creations find them a window on my life & the past times i inhabited it is an added level. Thanks Shimelle for enabling us all to participate at our own speed & skill level & to have fun.

  27. Candace.M Says:

I find scrapbooking to be agreat creative outlet that enables me to preserve the wonderful events I am living through my children’s eyes. I hope that in years to come they will have these Lo’s to remind them of all the joys they have brought me.

Thanks for the great challenges throughout the weekend. Your work gives much joy & inspiration to me and others

  28. abbeyviolet Says:

I love that it is both my creative outlet and preserving memories for the future!

  29. Michelle Says:

Thanks for a fab weekend :)
    I love scrapping because I love discovering new things, whether it’s paper or ribbons I love all of my purchases but what I love the most is all the gr8 new friends I’ve made, the things we share, the new memories we make and always having something to look back on!!! {there’s nothing better than looking through a scrapbook to cheer you up on a ‘down day’}

  30. aly sev Says:

I love scrapbooking for the creative outlet and knowing that I’m creating family treasures that can be shared with future generations!

  31. Madeline Says:

The most important thing for me is that I am saving my family’s history for future generations. I didn’t have that for me and I want my kids and grandchildren to have all that happened in their lives. And I like to make messes too

  32. SandyB Says:

I love scrapbooking because I want to document all the moments of my life. I want to be able to share these memories with my children and future generations.

  34. Lisa - Funky Fairy Says:

I love scrapping about the little things. I love the thought of my kiddies having all this information, stories and memories to look back on. I love that many little stories I have scrapped about, if I hadn’t have scrapped them, they would have been forgotten. I’m so so happy that I scrap : )

  35. Torry Schellhorn Says:

What a wonderful weekend – thanks so much for organising it! I scrapbook because it’s relaxing, fun, a creative outlet, and the best way to show off pictures that would otherwise be stuffed in a drawer…!

  36. kate Says:

I love scrapping because you see perspectives of people from yesteryear and preserve fabulous memories. I wish scrapping was around in my Mum’s era as I’d have loved to see how our pages compare!

  37. Smeepee Says:

I love scrapbooking because I can forget about everything in the world whilst I’m doing it. Whenever I’m feeling low it’s straight up to the craft room. And scrapping the good times in particular always makes me feel warm and fuzzy again! :)

Thank you for the fabby cybercrop Shimelle. I’ve got a little bit to finish off before I upload, but have had a wonderful crafting weekend. :)

  38. Anne Says:

I can’t remember my life before scrapbooking! I’ve always had a tendency to hoard details and little bits and pieces from along the way, but now I have a reason for doing it, and something to do with all the stuff I collect – it’s a real collection of memories, and I love looking back on it all. It’s also introduced me to so many other crafts which I now love, and most importantly I’ve discovered a community spirit through blogging and taking part in online classes and crops like this that makes it all extra special.

  39. tape Says:

I love making pretties, hanging out with scrapping friends, learning new techniques, and recording my life at the same time!

  40. CoCo Says:

Thanks for the wonderful crop shimelle. I’ve now to sort through my photos and get them uploaded, etc and am thankful for the extra day. Might even squeeze in a few more layouts after work this evening! I scrap because I find it theraputic but in a way that you have something to look back on at the end of it all (unlike going for a walk….which I probably should do more of too!). Its a great way to put photos and memories into a format that’s artistic and pretty to look at too. Also, great to have made some wonderful friends through the craft. Thanks for inspiring us all weekend!

  41. Iara Says:

I am so happy to see that I still have time to join the fun, I’ll be scrapping your challenges today and tomorrow :) thanks so much for the extended deadline :)

  42. Jimjams Says:

Thanks for an inspiring CC – you must have put a LOT of work into it. We appreciate that.

I love scrapbooking because it has made me focus on capturing memories before I forget them … I have a raft of photos from 30+ years ago which are already full of forgotten people and events. Scrapbooking is helping me preserve my memories for when my own have faded!

  43. sheena Says:

    Why I love scrapbooking ?
It gives me a creative outlet, whilst preserving memories in the company (in person or on line) of like minded people x

    xx

I love scrapbooking because the pages help me discover what I am comfortable sharing with others. (I keep a journal, but I wouldn’t let anyone read them.) Scrapbooks are my way of sharing self-discovery.

  49. Kirsteen Says:

I love scrapbooking for all the memories I preserve for my family and for all the scrapping friends I have made xx

  50. Julie Says:

Scrapping is my little bit of me time, being able to record all those things that we all forget, seeing how my pages have progressed over time and starting to get to know some new virtual friends online. I hope I can manage to see some of the other photos and LOs – my PC is being temperamental and 2peas is just one of th esites I can’t get into. Thanks for a great weekend.

  51. Sinead Says:

Scrapping is a creative outlet, time for me, and a way to tell my stories and the stories of my family and friends! Love it! Thank you so much for an enjoyable and inspiring weekend and I love seeing everyone’s different take on the challenges:) xx

  52. Susan Roh Says:

oh the thrill of touching paper, bits and bobs and putting it all together with pics and stories to make memories last forever. I love this hobby of mine, even if it’s for a ten minute break, it’s heaven on earth!

  53. HilaryB Says:

Thank you for all your hard work- I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the weekend.
Why do I scrapbook? I discovered years ago that I wasn’t an artist, but I could create things and combined with a passion for photography, scrapping was a natural progression.

  54. jen Says:

I work in Finance – scrapbook gives me a balance to looking at numbers in Excel all day. :)

  55. Melissa Says:

I love scrapbooking because it allows me to be creative, share our stories, and preserve memories for the future.

  56. Jenny Pitcairn Says:

Ooh weird, like the previous Jen I work in Finance and scrapping is a way of escaping the rigor of all those numbers!

It’s also an excuse to play with pretty papers and goodies, and to record some of my memories in ways that other people can share.

Best of all, I’ve made some wonderful friends and joined some amazing communities through scrapping.

  57. Bethan Says:

I used to scrap as a different way of displaying photos. But since My Sister in law died earlier this year I scrap because of the importance of the memories behind the photos. We won’t be around forever but by preserving the memories we can live on through the generations.

  58. ConnieC Says:

The real reason I like to scrapbook is that I like making stuff. And it’s a great way to save memories.

  59. Zahra Says:

For me, it’s a great de-stress from hectic work; a lovely outlet for my rare moments of ‘me time’ and creates beautiful records of happy memories – so many family stories I hear are only partially complete, due to lack of recollection

  60. Julia H Says:

Thanks so much for this online crop Shimelle – only got one challenge done but hope to use the other ideas to give me a kickstart in the Autumn :) Scrapbooking is a great excuse to play with pretty paper, glitter and glue whilst capturing a moment that might be lost forever if you didn’t write it down or photo it! I love the way my kids smile when they look back through their scrapbook albums. Oh hey I’ve not scrapped THAT yet lol!
