Two quick questions

photo taken in Dublin

First question: is it just me, or does this scene make you think you should be watching out for time-traveling Deloreans?

Second question: is your camera a point and shoot or a dSLR? I’m working on a little project that has made me curious as to what our mix is. If you have both, choose the one you would use to capture your best images please.

Thanks for your input!

Have you scrapbooked your April?

document:2010 scrapbook page

Funny how you can start the new year with such good intentions and then it gets harder each month, right? But with Document:2010, I am really trying to remember that idea of living first, scrapbooking second. And so far, I am still getting the pages created, so it seems to be working, even if I can’t really get them done on the first day of each new month.

This month most of my supplies came from the Poppyseed collection by K&Company, with two sheets of letter stickers – green from October Afternoon and a great new bold pink from My Little Shoebox. I love how the sizes of those two alphabets work together in the 4×6 spaces.

document:2010 scrapbook page

So far I’ve finished the divided pages for April and I just have the finishing touches to add on the two remaining layouts that finish the monthly summary. So I’ll post those very soon! These divided pages include lunch with Leanne, Maxwell & Laura, a celebration of blue springtime skies, painted eggs for Easter, a day at the pub for the Grand National, a fleeting visit to the Eden Project, time at the seaside, a work trip to Germany, my love of the Hipstamatic iPhone app, the shimelle.com scrapbook party weekend and a sunny day spent hiking at Cheddar Gorge. (By the way, I didn’t forget about that scrapping with Hipstamatic post – I’ll get it online this week!)

If you’re documenting this year, chat and share the process here at UKScrappers!

If you happen to finish your pages for April by the end of this Thursday, they would also fit this week’s challenge to scrapbook a month in review! (And one participant in each week’s challenge wins a gift certificate there so that’s a little extra push to finish and post your pages.)

So tell me: what one word summed up your April 2010?

Sparkly Scrapbook Stamping

scrapbook page
Supplies: Patterned papers by K&Company, The Girls’ Paperie, October Afternoon and KI Memories. Letter stickers by American Crafts, My Mind’s Eye, October Afternoon, KI Memories and My Little Shoebox. Label stickers by October Afternoon. Ribbon by American Crafts. Journaling spot by My Mind’s Eye and Banana Frog stamps.

I just finished this scrapbook page with some sparkly stamping and butterfly stamps from Banana Frog, and put together this short video so you can see how the layout comes together and how the stamped designs sparkle. It’s such an easy way to add shimmer and well, I am nowhere near the end of my obsessions with sparkles or butterflies, it would appear!

Plus this has really made me smile to see all the different colours and topics that have been scrapped with the same free digital page template. If this is your layout, you’re a challenge winner! Email me with your choice of three kits from the Shimelle Digitals store so I can get your prize zapped over to you!

And in other news, I’ve been asking everyone for things to do in Dublin, and would love to hear any suggestions you have… since I’m not exactly a fan of the Guinness, sadly! (Thank you for the amazing help so far!)

Wishing you a wonderful week!

Too cute not to share

Adorable, yes? I especially love that one duckling is yellow while all the others are brown.

Happy Bank Holiday Monday to those of you in this part of the world! We’re enjoying a pretty but very cold day here. And I’m working through the emails to request all the pages for volume three of the Scrapbook Inspirations Ideas Book. Exciting!

A free digital scrapbooking kit plus a challenge

free digital scrapbooking kit

There are five new free digital scrapbooking kits available at Two Peas this weekend in celebration of National Scrapbooking Day, including this template and set of three papers from Shimelle Digitals.

Download this free kit and use it on a page this week and you can win your choice of any three items from the Shimelle Digitals store. Your project can be digital or hybrid.

To enter, create your project and upload it to the Two Peas Gallery. To upload a project there, click on ‘Member Gallery’ at the top and choose ‘upload a new project’ from the pull-down menu. In the final step of uploading your project, it will ask if you want to add products to show what you used when you made your page. Click yes and add the kit (it’s called Enjoy the Little Things). Then complete the upload. This will enter you in the challenge!

You can leave a link here as well if you would like to share what you made — plus please note the uploading process above is how you’re formally entered to win. Thanks!

This challenge ends next weekend at 11:59pm on the 9th of May. The winner will be posted here on shimelle.com.

Happy scrapping!

Evolution of a group shot

I was really just checking the settings on my camera so I could pass it to someone to take a picture, but I really love this little series. Funny and sweet.

I had the most amazing stop between trains and took some pictures there too. This is seriously just outside a train station. And to think, all that’s opposite our local train station is a fish and chip shop.

Or if you fancy something scrappy, I scrapbooked the first photos from our stop at the Eden Project.

Back to work I go!

PS: There is just one opening for the album workshop I am teaching this Saturday at Eclectic Keepsakes in Colchester. Grab it while you can and treat yourself to a lovely day of scrapbooking!

Scrapbooking in Germany

scrapbooking in germany: crop on the rhine

Just waiting for my train home, but I wanted to post a huge thank you to all the lovely scrappers I met this past weekend at Crop on the Rhine in Oberwinter, Germany. Barbara and Heike have been the most amazing hostesses for the past few days and it has been fabulous to share scrapping stories with the crafty ladies at this crop. Thank you so much for having me and for embracing my ‘about this size’ philosophy. I never realised how much I would be rocking the boat for not being a lover of measurements!

Must dash but wanted to share a few quick pictures from the weekend!

A special note about this last photo: this is Conny, who attends the crop and goes so far beyond just being a cropper to get into the spirit of things. She baked cakes for everyone at the entire event, personalised with their names and everything! And lots of other little touches to make everyone smile. She was named Queen of the Crop with her name on a trophy and everything! So sweet.

Happy Monday — better go catch my train!
