I love this photo...with Karen

I love this photo by Karen Russell

I am Karen Russell and I love this photo because I just like the golden tones in this shot and the light reflecting off the sand, the water and the rocks. I also like the little patches of color set against the bright sky, like the blue polkadot swimsuit my daughter Annie is wearing and her yellow beach basket. I also like that it’s a completely candid, unposed shot. I take plenty of planned, posed portraits and I like them just fine, but honestly, I much prefer candid shots. I just love the authenticity of a candid shot; that little moment of (real) life documented. That’s what I REALLY love.

Scrapbooking has changed Karen Russell’s life, as something that started as a hobby, drew her into page design for publications, then into the design of scrapbooking products with her Narratives line for Creative Imaginations and then into her own business running photography classes helping hundreds of others gain joy from their cameras. Snapshots of a Good Life, her blog, shows the style of photography she uses to capture beautiful images of her family and everything they do.

I love this photo… is a special series of posts this week, featuring favourite images from some fabulous scrapbookers and friends. I hope you enjoy! -S.
