Scrapbooking Giveaway Day

scrapbooking giveaway day
Cover to cover class pass
This weekend, one commenter will win a class pass for themselves and a friend to the latest class here at Shimelle.com Cover to cover
Cover to Cover starts on the seventh of May and runs for four weeks, finishing on the third of June.
It includes 25 full-colour PDF prompts sent to participants by email, so you can read straight from your inbox.
It includes an entire series of videos made just for this class so you can see all the concepts in action, including plenty of example albums but also the process of going from a stack of layouts (or um… many stacks!) to a collection of books that showcase your work in the best way for you.
There is a private message board to ask questions and share with other participants, we’ll gather for a live chat session and I’ll be available for questions and answers throughout in case you want a second opinion on what will work best for the way you scrapbook.

To enter, just leave a comment on this post telling us how you usually plan your scrapbook albums.

Entries close at midnight Thursday UK time and the winner will be posted Friday evening, so be sure to check back to see if it’s your lucky day!

Good luck!

  1. tape Says:

I don’t plan my albums. I scrap in a random order and put my layouts in an album as I go. Start a new album when the previous one gets full. I kind of like the eclectic mix but am open to other options. :)

  2. jengd Says:

bwahhahahahah! Plan? Plan? There’s no planning! ;) No, seriously though. I scrap whatever pages I feel like at the time- as far from chronological as you can imagine. The only organization is that since 99.9% of my scrapping is about my son, there’s a 2007-9 book (needless I haven’t scrapped many baby pictures), one for 2010, and one for 2011. I don’t have one for this year yet. The additional few pages I’ve done for us and about me go into two other albums.

  3. Bunnyfreak Says:

I don’t plan them. I use the Library of Memories system sometimes.

  4. Jen Says:

I don’t really plan my albums…they just are a random conglomeration!

  5. wendy Says:

I would love to win this class – I desperately need help!

  6. Louise Says:

Plan!! I have an empty one that’s been sitting on the side since before christmas (I think) and loads of loose layouts piled high. Have been contemplating your class to get me organised. Would be fantastic to win a spot – thank you :)

  7. Sarah White Says:

Would love to win this class. Right now I scrap out of order but try to put them in chronological order.

  8. Rochelle Says:

    Hi Shimelle,
I placed an earlybird registration for Cover to Cover, but have not received any confirmation. I am getting nervous as the start draws nearer. The reason for wanting to do this class is I don’t plan my albums – they just happen.

  9. Adel Says:

So love the idea of putting my pages together in a special way.

  10. Brenna Says:

Plan?? My albums make no sense at all. I don’t scrap in chronological order but rather what inspires me at the moment. My layouts are then placed in an album in the order I made them in other words my albums make absolutely no sense! I’ve already signed up for the class and can’t wait to get started!

  11. Joanne Says:

I usually dont plan my albums, I just make pages for the photos that I like :) Thanks for the chance to win, I would love to try one of your classes!

  12. Sandra Says:

Once again that sounds great. Thanks for the chance to win.

  13. Cyndee K. Says:

We’re supposed to PLAN our albums??? I usually scrap based on what strikes me. I’m lucky if I get all my finished layouts into an album (totally randomly)… Would love a chance at the class!

  14. Laura Says:

Most of my albums were in chronological order and then…I started to scrap whatever I wanted to scrap. So now I have “neat” stacks of random pages ;-)

  15. Gerry Glowacki Says:

I don’t plan – which is why I need this class! I kind of scrap chronologically and then place them in albums. When one is full I start another.

  16. benessi Says:

i don’t plan albums except that they are more or less chronological. super excited about this class!

  17. LisaE Says:

I typically do my albums chronologically. I have done special albums for travel only.

  18. Sarah M. Says:

I would like to say I have a plan for albums, but the truth is that I haven’t even printed my pages yet. (I’m a digi scrapper.) I could definitely use a class like this to give me the push to figure out how I want to put my albums together so I can finally get around to the printing part.

  19. Breeze Says:

I am slightly ashamed to admitt that until I started following Shimelle’s 4×6 photo love series I never planned in whole albums. I am proud to say that my travels album has a direction and a plan! Would love to win this class to further my knowledge!

  20. Onita Says:

right now i am scrapbooking chronologically and when the album in starting to get full i find a logical place to end it and then start the next one where i stopped. the exception is the couple little “vacation” albums i’ve put together :D

  21. Clare Says:

Usually by the person since I have three children. But there are some in random albums.

  22. Lydia Says:

I really don’t plan my albums either. I have to agree with most of the comments about scrapbooking random pictures and putting them in my albums.

  23. Jamie Hensley Says:

I am looking so forward to this class! I scrap chronologically, or I should say I scrap whatever event I am in the mood to do. Then I arrange them chronologically. I really hope to get some tips on how to get started scrapping some huge trips.

    JamieH

  24. Kim A. Says:

The majority of my albums are in chronological order with no real planning. Vacation albums are planned, and the papers & embellishments are selected before I begin. Then I have one album just for fun layouts that are in no particular order and no planning necessary.

  25. April W Says:

I don’t plan them at all, lol! I scrap out of order and layouts go into albums as they’re finished. There could be a page from 2012 on one side and one from 2002 on the other. :)

  26. Andrea R. Says:

My albums are in chronological order, and a separate book for each member of the family. I’m a little OCD when it comes to their organization!

  27. Martha Says:

Well, there are two precious grandchildren that do and say the cutest things. So, my plan is to scrapbook them as soon as possible so I don’t forget! Learning to handwrite my pages helps as well.

  28. Tara Says:

My albums are sorted randomly. I have our wedding album, an album for our dog, a pre-married album, etc. None of them flow or go together in any way…which is why I would LOVE to win a spot in your class. Thank you for the great giveaway!!

  29. AllisonLP Says:

Umm… Plan a scrapbook album?? Whatever do you mean? I do layouts of pics that inspire me, stick them in an album, and when it’s full, I buy another album, and keep on going. Do you think I need this class?? Yeah…

  30. Felicia W Says:

I don’t plan my 12×12 albums, but I have several theme albums that layouts will go into as I make them. I only plan mini albums for travel or special events.

  31. Linda Says:

I usually plan my mini albums/theme albums ahead of time, but it really depends on the album’s purpose & content. If it is for a specific purpose, I will draw a page of notes w/ squares for each page & plan what photos/text will go on each page before starting. If it is simply an ongoing theme project [like my cookbook] I come up w/ a simple formula for each page & then continue it as I add pages. For my 12×12 albums that incorporate layouts about anything & everything I don’t plan ahead & I typically just end an album when it seems full & comes to a logical stopping point [i.e. end of a year, end of a school year, etc.]

  32. Lauren Says:

Plan, am I supposed to plan them? I“m lucky anything gets out of a pile and in them! Would love to be more organized and have nice neat albums. This class sounds wonderful! Thanks for the chance.

  33. Ann Johnson Says:

I have changed my scrapbooking because of you (True Scrap 2) I used to do LOM style and just couldn’t develop the concept. I love the random scrapbooking pages but what I heard last year was amazing and it has made me love my albums. I would love to win this class – you have some awesome ideas. ~Ann

  34. Ginny Says:

I categorize them according to the Library of Memories system. Once a section gets fills over half of an album I move it to it’s own album.

  35. Bethany Becker Says:

I plan my albums by theme, but I don’t complete it all at the same time

  36. Helen B Says:

I haven’t planned in the past – but am starting to do so now as it feels less chaotic – more ideas would be great :)

  37. SammyD Says:

Oh I plan as I go hahahaha! I like the sound of this class, maybe if I had a plan I would get more done =)

  38. Maya Says:

I have some version of LOM system with some modifications. I have A About Us albums, separate for each kid, for me and DH, and family. I also have People We Love albums. Everything else is chronological. I do not scrapbook chronologically. When I finish a layout I decide which album it belongs to and add it to the album in chronological order.

  39. Kathy R Says:

I mainly scrapbook my grandkids and their albums are chronological. My mini albums are themed (events or vacations) but I don’t scrap chronologically (just organize the layouts that way). I’ve already purchased your class. Looking forward to it.

  40. J3SS1C4 Says:

I don’t plan too much… I tend to have a few theme albums, like week in the life and travel albums, but the rest of the stuff seems to just go in albums randomly. I do try to keep them semi chronological though!

  41. Janet Femmer Says:

I have to admit, I don’t plan books anymore. I kind of hop around from layout to layout. Then I spend precious time trying to figure out where to put the layout when finished. I think I am in dire need of assistance. Love Shimelle videos and classes so I would dearly love to win a class pass.

  42. Cynthia S Says:

I scrap what “moves” me at the time, therefore there is little planning that goes into my albums. I use 3 ring binders to I find it quite easy to just fit the pages in chronologically and move things around as they get full! I do keep track of my layouts with a spreadsheet to ensure that I am being “fair” to all the loves of my life. Shimelle, you have been a great inspiration to me! I adore your videos and thank you for all the classes that you put on, you are awesome!

  43. rt in GA Says:

I usually scrap chronologically, but since I haven’t done any layouts in a while, I will try to start with pictures that will motivate me. Thanks for the chance to win!

  44. Tammie Says:

Congratulations winners!! Planning albums is always a problem for me… I mean I do these little mini-albums about certain events (like Christmas) and a yearly album for my grandkids, but then I have all these layouts that are just shoved in my AC binder without rhyme or reason because I have no clue what to do with them. I have a real hard time trying to figure out how to put my miscellaneous layouts together in a constructive way – sometimes, I just give them away and let that person figure out what to do with it!!! For instance, what to do with all those layouts I did a couple of weekends ago for this blog! Those layouts are hanging on my “clothesline” because I’m just not sure what to do now.

  45. MeganM. Says:

I usually do theme scrapbooks, and then those are in chronological order.

  46. Carol Davis Says:

In the past, my albums were mostly chronological, but I am (loosely) using the Library of Memories system. I also have some theme albums and do a separate scrapbook/photo album for each of my major vacations.

  47. Carolyn Says:

    Plan??
I scrap completely out of order and have nothing but albums in progress. I put the layouts away based on the date of the pictures. If there are mixed ages of pics on a page I file based on the newest. It makes for uhm … interesting albums.

  48. Lisa H Says:

Albums? We’re suppose to have completed albums? I’ve got bits and pieces in chronological order. Then I’ve tried using the Library of Memories system. I’m hoping this class will help me to find what works best for me.

  49. glee Says:

Just a few years ago I wanted to scrapbook, but was intimidated by tons of pictures and the feeling I could never catch up. I read someone’s blog that said, just start with whatever photos are on the top of your pile. I did and I have never looked back! So my albums are all mixed up unless I have made a special one from a trip or a december daily. I think I’m ready for a Shimelle intervention!

  50. Dina Says:

I scrap randomly. I only plan albums for trips/vacations.

  51. GilmaH Says:

The only ones i know how to plan are the albums for my son. I do one album per year; but that might not work for too long since i keep finding more and more pics to scrap and the album’s seem to be getting thicker each year. But, the rest of my albums are not very well planned, IDK where to even begin, lol

  52. Jean Schmuker Says:

I don’t plan my albums. I just take my photos and scrap them and then try to organize them later.

  53. Nathalie Says:

Mine are not planned either, I don’t scrap chronologically but I put layouts chronologically in albums with one for each kid and one for the family… Thank you for the chance, I am very much intrigued by this new class!

  54. Christine Says:

I don’t usually plan my albums. I have a rough idea of what I’ll put in my albums, but there is no consistency in style in each album. I would love to win a spot in this class so that I can get a better flow in my albums!

  55. Shannon Says:

I try to catch up on holidays first and then move on to day to day events- but I am so far behind that it is almost too overwhelming to start!

  56. cjb Says:

I need a plan? ;) Currently there is no rhyme or reason to my albums. Thanks for the chance to win!

  57. Pamela Says:

Not too much planning for me…albums in chronological order for children and family…love the sound of this class

  58. Ellie A. Says:

No rhythm or reason for my scrapbook album just get pages done & then I try to put them in order. Thanks for chance.

  59. Patricia F. Says:

I honestly don’t plan my albums. I usually just put my pages in random order. Thanks for the chance!

  60. Ruth Says:

LOVE the sound of this class. I need help with my albums.

  61. Evelin Says:

hmmm… I don’t plan actually. I’m quite random when making pages. I just find elements and PP that matches the photos I’m using :P I would love to learn how to organize and plan better! :)

  62. Blair Mirth Says:

I don’t have a plan for a lot of reasons. Mostly because I have no idea how to plan, but secondly I just make pages at random and slot them into albums. I have a big stack of finished layouts waiting to find the right home sighs and more growing.

  63. Sabrina Aziz-Bahaman Says:

Ah come to me anything from Shimelle! I don’t usually plan it, I just wing it. I guess that’s mostly because I don’t really have the time to plan since my scrapping time is so limited.

  64. Little Nat Says:

My albums are chronological although I scrap randomly. I have special albums for Disney, my wedding, our hOneymoon and my baby’s first year. The first JYC I did is in a seParate album but I plan to do future years in my usual year album so that the whole year is together. I want to map our family tree and have a separate album ready for that.

I don’t plan colour schemes or continuity through albums, I just go by the colours in photos or what mood I want to portray.

  65. Debra Piercey Says:

The only plan I have for my albums, is that I have different albums for different subjects. (The Library of Memories way.) My albums are People We Love, All About Us, Things That Matter-Everyday Life, & Places We Go. When I complete a layout, I decide which album it would fit in best, and I place them in chronological order within the album. But would love your class to see if there’s a better way. There’s always room for improvement!

  66. Julie Jeavons Says:

Well Mrs N, is time dragging for me or is it a while since your last post? Apart from 2 cruise albums and a couple I am doing (too slowly) for others I have no planning for my albums. I make the pages and whack ‘em in an album before they get damaged. Makes it easier to show my family the recent stuff but otherwise totes not me. I even have my CDs filed alphabetically by artist for goodness sake and my bookcase is organised by subject matter!

  67. Katherinel Says:

I plan my album chronically. Thanks for a chance to win.

  68. Deborah S Says:

The only planning that goes into my scrapbooking is for the time to do so. I just grab a stack of photos and work with whatever I’ve picked. Absolutely no rhyme or reason!

  69. Chrystal Says:

I only plan for mini albums to have coherent pages from a specific event. As for a 12×12… help is greatly appreciated…

  70. Cori Says:

I typically put my layouts in my albums chronologically. I don’t scrap them in order, but I do file them that way.

  71. Karen Poirier-Brode (Ladydoc) Says:

My albums are not planned except for event albums and one of my trips when I first got serious about scrapping. I do assign pages to albums. My categories – me (and friends), me and DH, family and family friends, holiday, travel, and then one I call “stuff”. Stuff is for all the things that do not fit the other categories – like a page about the ducklings in the pool.

  72. Ants Says:

I’ve got a Christmas album with one double sided layout added each year, which is in chronological order. The rest, I’m sad to say is in a haphazard way as I am trying to scrap older photos as well as the more recent events in my life at the same time. I’m just kinda happy if I can find a spare page protector for the new layout to go into, as I always feel they’re a bit of a waste of money, when you could spend that money on gorgeous goodies :-)…

  73. Gina Ames Says:

Not much of a plan for my scrapbooks really. I put them in the albums chronologically. I don’t scrap them in order necessarily though.
I have really enjoyed seeing your travel album with its Kraft cardstock & glimmer mist to give it a coordinated feel. Would love to take this class.

  74. Sofia D. Says:

Love your classes! As far as planning I have different themed albums. I work in chronological order but recently have been just scrapping as I go.

  75. Joanne Says:

I would love to win this to put the va va voom back into my scrapbooking, and get my photos into albums

  76. Maria Therese Says:

I don’t plan my albums at all maybe I should but I don’t know how to..

  77. Silvia Says:

I do not really plan my albums. I just scrap and put my layouts into a album.

    best wishes Silvia

  78. Sharon Kosch Says:

I used to do only themed albums – mostly vacations. I’ve just started scrapping everyday life so don’t have a plan.

  79. Amanda Says:

I have an album (or two) per year plus extra albums for special holidays. I scrap whatever takes my fancy, and have several albums on the go at any one time plus some pages in pizza boxes until I buy more albums. Currently I’m trying to concentrate on finishing my general 2011 albums and a holiday album from 2009.

  80. sue Says:

I dont plan any albums, so could do with guidance, plus an enormous kick start to get me scrapping again as my mojo disappeared 2 1/2 years ago!!!!!!!!

  81. Marita Says:

I really love your special insignes in scrapbooking, may be it is the european touch?
I really wantto take my scrapbooking a step further then a double page at à time. I hope you do also use double page layouts in your class?!

  82. Angie Says:

I don’t organize my albums either. I have a wedding album,a pregnancy album, and then everything else is basically just by the year and that is as organized as I get. This class sounds great!

  83. Cecilia Dilnot Smith Says:

I only organize them in such a way that each of my daughter’s have their own album and I started on a wedding album. Otherwise I just put them in a album that has space.

  84. janice Says:

i try and put my pages in order, and when i get alot of older photos of the kids done when the kids were little i make albums together, your blog always inspires me and i love the videos each week thanks Shimelle!

  85. Helen Says:

Hi, thanks for the chance to enter. My albums are put together as I go I scrap some photos and then put them in. I just start a new one when it gets full for family things. Each of my kids has an album of their own as well. Would love some new ideas on how to bring them together – you are always inspring. Thanks again

  86. Terri M Says:

Wow, this class would be perfect for me. Certain aspects of my life have recently changed which means I want to re-order my layouts (not that they are in order at the moment anyway!)Also I want to be organised by the time I go to Vietnam in November. Thanks for a wonderful opportunity!

  87. Sally Says:

Hi thanks fior the chance to win, if I’m doing a album of a event ie a trip, I try and do the LOs in order of when they were taken,

  88. kate Says:

I scrap whatever I feel and then try and organise them in chronological order as that’s how my mind works. With the exception of my wedding album and honeymoon album, both of which I’m trying to use to tell as story and not doing very well at it!

  89. Amy Says:

I don’t plan my albums – that is why I signed up for Cover to Cover =)

  90. Alicia Says:

I don’t really plan my albums. I scrap whatever photos motivate me at the time and they go into one of two albums…. Travel or family… Which is why I’d love to win this class! Thanks for this wonderful opportunity!

  91. Caroline Says:

I’d love to get my albums in some sort of order. I just scrap random pages and put them in a box to be put in an album later… later hasn’t happened yet ;)

  92. Kiki Says:

I don’t plan my albums. The only ones I do, are my themed mini albums. Thank you for the chance. I will enroll for this class but if I win it would be awesome!

  93. Sue Says:

my project life is planned but nothing else is. I scrap what I feel like when I feel like it and have the last 3 1/2 years of scrapping in boxes and piles

  94. Jenny P Says:

I let you plan them for me! Seriously, the only albums that have ever had any kind of plan have been the ones I’ve made for your classes. Otherwise it’s totally random.

  95. Sue Says:

The only albums I plan are my travel albums. I make a list of the places/events I want to scrap and then the photos that go with each. I try to print all the photos for one trip at the same time, then sort them by intended LO into a file box. Sometimes, I will add notes about possible materials or a sketch idea that might work.
My ‘everyday life’ albums get scrapped in no particular order, and are a bit messy at the moment to be honest.

  96. Claire W. Says:

I have a scrapbook for each year, and then a separate one for special occasions where I can fill a whole one, like holidays, my wedding! The class looks great x

  97. EE Says:

Thanks for the giveaway (although I have already signed up for you class – absolutely love your videos!). I don’t “plan” whole albums unless they are minis. Right now mine are organized a la Stacey Julian and library of memories, so I have 4 categories: Us, People, Things and Places. I am currently doing Project Life so not scrapping as many “traditional” pages.

  98. mariclaudi Says:

    WOW! I love this giveaway!

  99. Lisa M. Zepponi Says:

planning? What is that? My plan is put the LO in the pile on the piano. Ha ha! I hope to come up with a plan. P.s. glad you are back on line. I was starting to get worried.

  100. Marie-eve Says:

I don’t plan my albums but this year I started a weekly album and I love it!
Thanks for the chance to win!

  101. Cheryl Says:

I sort of plan my albums, I have separate albums for trips and each of my daughters has their own album. I am having trouble with the photos and layouts from the 70’s and earlier. How to plan those albums!

  102. Jenn Stewart Says:

I scrap randomly but my albums are in chronilogical order with a few special albums such as Christmas, my wedding and Disney.

  103. Lise Says:

I don’t really plan my album, and would love to learn how by following your new class. For now, I just put my layouts in my albums chronogically.

  104. TrayChic Says:

I use Stacy Julian’s Library of Memories. Other than that, pages just get plopped into page protectors. I would like a little more direction, so this class sounds awesome!

  105. Sabine Says:

I don´t plan, everything goes in in the order I made the layout, and that is why I am sorely in need of that class!

  106. Julia M. Says:

I just normally put my layouts in an album chronologically. Thanks for the chance to win!

  107. Linda Says:

Hmmm, did you say plan? That doesn’t seem to be in my vocabulary when it comes to scrapbooking :)

  108. Louise Fortune Says:

Hmmm planning – I don’t usually, my photos steer what I scrap but at the moment it is fairly chronological.

  109. Leslie Says:

I tend to either scrap chronologically or do specific projects like a holiday or Christmas. It doesn’t sound very creative but it keeps me on track!

  110. Christine Says:

Thanks for the chance to win! Love your classes and ideas

  111. Jody W. Says:

The only organization I put into my albums is to make sure they’re chronological. Can’t wait for this class to start!

  112. Kelly Toth Says:

Thanks for the chance to win.

  113. Wendy Goodman Says:

I don’t usually plan my large albums and that’s exactly why I need this class! I tend to make layouts and they go into a stack to be put into albums. The only albums I organize are my mini albums.

  114. Melanie S Says:

I don’t really plan my albums, I exasperated the layouts between my 3 children. Then I have a couple family albums.

    Your new class sounds great!

  115. Carol Chastain Says:

would love to win this class….right now I am just scrapping and have a stack of completed layouts just waiting to be organized… :(

  116. Ragnhild Says:

I usually don’t plan my albums, but I would love to learn how you do it, and maybe start to organize my layouts!

  117. Jacqueline Roark Says:

It depends….if it is a specific album that will cover one topic (wedding, vacation, etc), I usually plan page by page as I am editing pics. But other than that….there is absolutely no planning happening. I make the pages and then find a home for them.

  118. LouiseI Says:

I’m another one who doesn’t plan! Albums seem to just evolve but I do have specific albums for each of my children and for my wedding. Everything else gets stacked up in order of scrapping. Although at the moment, they’re mostly just stacked – must buy more albums!!

  119. Jennie Says:

Help! I HAVE no plan! I just put pages into my album after I make them, in that order! At least I just started a travel album a few weeks ago, that’s something, at least :D

  120. Amy Says:

I am suppose to have a plan?

  121. Alison-lee Says:

I now do my albums by year date and have separate albums for my children, family and dog!!!

  122. Terri Torrez Says:

My regular layouts are organized by Library of Memories categories. I do have a few smaller travel albums. And I’ve been “planning” both a Disney album and a School album for several years. Never got past the planning stage.

  123. Rinda Says:

My family albums are chronological, but I also have travel albums and albums for the kids’s school or sports.

  124. ~SugarJenDay Says:

I have been recently moving from scrapping chronologically to doing everyday albums and theme albums. It’s slow going but I am loving the freedom to scrap what I want!

  125. lori r Says:

Hi!I would love to win this class. I just scrap what I feel like that day;)

  126. Carrie/scrapchick Says:

Been using the LOM system so haven’t had to plan – would love to learn for minis though! Thanks for the chance!

  127. Mel Says:

This sounds like a fascinating class, Shimelle. Thank you for the chance to win!

  128. Margaret Says:

Plan an album?? The only planning I do for my everyday type layouts are by page, not album. Although if we take a big vacation I will plan that album. Thanks for the chance to win!

  129. Stephanie Christ Says:

I’m a chronological scrapper. I feel like I HAVE to do it that way and I have to actually scrap it in order too. I’m currently scrapping photos from 2008 even though I would enjoy scrapping more current photos I can’t bring myself to skip ahead. I feel like if I do I’ll never go back and do the previous photos I skipped.

  130. Angela W Says:

I plan my albums by year or or if it is something special for one of my kids it goes in their growing up album.

  131. Chriss Says:

I use a Library of Memories system. There is a relationship section, a section for each family member, an album for friends & family, places get divided by country (as they get big enough for their own album) as well as a ‘home’ album. Our ‘Things’ album has sections for each season, and the everyday (or not so everyday) stuff. This is one of my favourite albums. For example, I love turning to the winter section and seeing different bit and pieces of Christmas over the years that, together, become the whole story of the traditions we keep and how they change.

  132. Cathy Says:

Right now I don’t plan my albums, I’m treating each layout as an individual story.

  133. Magda Says:

I haven’t been making layouts for that long so I haven’t had the need of albums until now. I haven’t planned anything yet but I realize I have to have a plan soon :) I dont know if I should put them in chronological order or in different topics or…
And how do you sort layouts with pictures from different times? I have a lot of work to do to find out how to organize it all.

  134. Mel Says:

Feeling a bit sheepish, here. I just realized that I didn’t follow instructions! I organize my albums a bit like Stacy Julian recommended in her book, Photo Freedom. I don’t usually plan an entire album, unless it’s a mini book, or when I took Journal Your Christmas last year.

  135. Alison B. Says:

I am like many of the others who have posted comments here already, in general, I don’t plan my albums. When I started scrapbooking 10 yrs ago, I had just had a baby, so my first album was of her first year. As I time went on I got bored of scrapping in order of date and became more random. At first I thought I’d go back and put them in order, but now I like that the pages jump around, I think it’s more interesting. That said, I do make some planned albums, usually a special project like a mini album or paper bag album.

  136. lizziejohns Says:

My scrapbooks are usually event driven. I plan to make an album so I take a great many photos just to make sure I have enough.

  137. Helen Says:

My albums are all mixed up, that’s why I need this class!

  138. alissa Says:

i would totally love to win this class. :)
    plan my albums? LOL!
i currently have 12×12 boxes of layouts. seriously. every month they go into the boxes after photographing.
    i need help! :)

  139. Heather Says:

I would love to learn from you, thank you, grasshopper!

  140. Margie S (Nihao, Cupcake!) Says:

I roughly follow the Library of Memories model.

  141. Rachel Says:

I don’t really plan my albums they just evolve over time as I do individual pages.

  142. heidi Says:

I would love to win a spot in this class… as I usually don’t have a plan for my albums… I just make layouts and then put them in to the albums by year — hoping Cover to Cover could help me look at this in a different light!

  143. Karen C Says:

I don’t scrap chronologically but my albums are in chronological order. I have thought about doing theme specific albums but that idea doesn’t seem to sit well my my personallity type – I like everything ordered. Maybe this class will help me see things differently. Would love to win a place.

  144. Emma Says:

I don’t plan; I started an album at the start of this year, and everything I’ve done so far is in that – and everything else from before that has yet to be put anywhere!

  145. Johanna Says:

I am working on a big multi album project for a trip to Europe, but otherwise I just have a few albums and put pages depending on the time frame the pages are about.

  146. Anu Says:

Not planning sort, I fill albums in the order that the layouts are made.*

  147. Karen Says:

    I don’t.

  148. Johanna Says:

I have to say that I usually don’t plan them out. I go with the flow and go little by little :)

  149. heather Says:

for most chronologically is as much as I organise them. I’m not good at all at looking at the album as a whole and not just individual layouts

  150. Dawn Cheshire Says:

I don’t currently plan my albums as I don’t scrap chronologically so I’m looking forward to class to see what tips you have up your sleeve!

  151. Tagati Says:

I try to plan my albums chronologically with travel in a separate album.

Luv all the tips I’ve learned from you!

  152. Katherine Sutton Says:

Thank you for all the giveaways and heaps of inspiration in your classes :D

  153. Malin/malwa Says:

I don’t scrap chronologically and I don’t have a system – i.e. I put all layouts in the albums one after the other, in the order they were created. Maybe it’s time to rearrange now when I’m at my 12th (or so) album…

  154. jen Says:

    I don’t plan … which is why I need help! :)

  155. Marsha F Says:

I am trying to plan my albums in chronological order, but am extremely behind! I really need to take your new class!

  156. Susi Says:

Sadly I have no system for my albums. When I’ve made a pile of pages, they go into an album. They could be pages of photos from 20 years ago to current photos. It’s all totally random.

  157. ConnieC Says:

I don’t plan. I just do pages and add them to my current album. All mixed up by date and size. I’m interested in seeing what happens in this class.

  158. jo Says:

I have only ever planned one album – the rest are an eclectic mix of themes!

  159. Jackie A xxx Says:

I don’t normally, have tried in the past to – but then things just get grouped together.

  160. Melissa S Says:

I’m new to scrapbooking, so I only have created a few layouts so far. Don’t really have a plan at this point. Would love to take your new class! Thanks for the chance :)

  161. Jennifer Monroe Says:

Unless I am making a book especially for someone, I just throw them radomly in a book.

  162. scrapper al Says:

I don’t plan my albums…I’m lucky if I just finish a page or two, much less a whole album, lol.

  163. Sharon Hunt Says:

I do not scrap chronologically, but I do organize my pages in albums chronologically. Each child has a 8.5X11 and a 12X12 album, 12X12 Family album(s), 8.5X11 All about Me album, and several travel albums.

  164. Laur Says:

Like many I don’t plan, I have never completed an album, and would love to take this class. Thank you. Laur

  165. Sammie Says:

I use Stacy Julian’s Photo Freedom method with my albums along with a baby album for each child that covers only their first year.

  166. Amy Myers Says:

I don’t usually plan my albums. I have just a few that I put in page after page. There’s one of pages for me (and my husband), my Project Life album, and three so far for my daughter. I’ve purchased a few spare albums for her bc I’m scrapping just her of late. At some point, the idea is to get the albums ordered chronologically. I don’t scrap that way so it’s a bit of an unclear task right now. I’d love some ideas about how to plan my albums!!

  167. Mollie Says:

Sounds awesome. I am slightly embarrassed to admit I have never planned an album. I am more of a spur of the moment scrapper! I scrap what interests me at the moment!

  168. Cathy Watson Says:

Unless it’s a specific subject like a holiday, I don’t really plan. Everything just gets put in the albums mainly in the order that I do the pages…I need help!!! Would love to win this prize.

  169. Mandy Szeto Says:

I then to do things in chronological order or theme , such as vacation.

  170. Donna Says:

I start from the overall concept and then find the right photos, the paper with a good vibe for that topic, write journaling on computer (although I often go back and hand-write it) and then seek out other goodies to achieve the look I’m after.

  171. Catherine C R Says:

My best plan? Never start. I think it puts too much pressure on expectations and I find it hard to stay creative. So I just don’t plan and take inspiration when it hits. Thanks for the chance to win!!

  172. Deborah Says:

Planning? There’s a novel idea! I need help!

  173. Lou Says:

My albums are organised loosely by main character e.g me, boy child, girl child, rest of family etc. Within the albums they are vaguely chronological although I scrap out of order.

  174. Victoria Says:

To be honest, I plan as I go along. I like to have a bvariety of page sizes and I do take that into consideration. Also I like my albums to be a good reflection of my year, I try to think about what I include but it’s a little hit and miss!

  175. Sharmon Says:

LOve your classes..I could use new ideas on how to do albums other chrono…Thanks

  176. Linda Says:

I would love to win this class. I have piles and piles of layouts laying around but no home for them yet! I think the cover to cover class will definitely be helpfull for me :)

  177. sarahp Says:

    HI
My albums are organised by people ie the children have their own and the cats even have their own, sadly all the randomers are all together and definately need orgainising in a more structured way.I also have a wedding album and a seperate honeymoon one ohh and a tinkerbell one as my mini guilty pleasure. !!
This class sound ideal for me to organise myself finally . xxx

  178. Rachel Says:

The only albums I plan are mini books for holiday photos usually after we come home. All my 12×12’s are just put in post bound albums in no order.

  179. Lois Says:

Yes please. My albums are not as organised as I would like.

  180. emma Says:

    hi shimelle
i do one album for my eldest niece 2010-11,and my youngest niece 2010-2011, because i only started scarpping than and i have’nt started this year yet but i don’t really like them very much. and of course i have my own albums which i put anything about just me or things i love which i call my handmade blogs.but i’m going to start a new album about my childhood which i need a little help with.

  181. Tríona Says:

I don’t plan my albums, but am beginning to think I should! I’ll need to get more organised though…

  182. Julia Says:

The only albums I have ever planned are JYC and a holiday album of our trip Florida. The rest are a hap hazard mess!

  183. Robin Says:

I really don’t have a plan for albums in general. I’m actually in need of some new albums and thinking of reorganizing :)

  184. sue Says:

no planning.. maybe i would have more complete if i planned… :)

    thanks for the chance!

  185. sozzee Says:

I just go with nice pics, fab paper,a few embellies and arrange until amazin!!!!! xx

  186. Beth Says:

The only planned albums I’ve done are my kids’ football and dance albums, and only because they were chronological! Everything else is kind of random…but I like it that way!

  187. Anne Says:

My albums are evolving over time rather than being planned. I have one for 2011/12 and one for older pages. It’s difficult to work out the order when I use old photos. Looking forward to the class tomorrow. X

  188. Rachel H Says:

I organize my albums by year. I don’t always scrapbook chronologically, but when I’m done with a layout, I put it in the album for the year it belongs in. I also do a baby album of the first year’s ‘firsts’ for each child and a birthday/school events album for each child. If there’s an event I have a ton of pictures for, I’ll often make a mini to highlight just that event. My problem comes when my year albums get too thick!!

  189. Bev Barlow Says:

I have separate themed albums for vacations and Christmas and then have chronological albums for everything else in between. I lleave out the Christmas albums on the coffee table over the festive period so that family and friends can look at them and recall happy memories from previous years! I do tend to get hung up on the chronological albums though and need help in giving myself permission to scrap out of sequence on what inspires me that day, instead of getting hung up on dates often feeling that I am so behind I will never catch up!

  190. Connie Says:

You are supposed to plan albums? Just kidding, sort of. I have albums for each family member for individual things – traits, accomplishments etc. I also have a family album for each year that chronicles family events like holidays. I have a separate “places we go” album as well for trips and vacations.

  191. Michaela F. Says:

I don´t plan my album, but i am a beginner and there is only one album.

  192. Bev Barton Says:

I have a mix of albums. Some are by year, some are not. Those that are not, are “themed” ones like Christmas and my son’s School album.

  193. Melissa Says:

I don’t plan. :( I’d like to start, but I’m not sure where!

  194. Kathy Says:

I just scrap what I feel like, when I feel like it. There’s no planning at all. I have divided them into travel (x2) me (x1) and my brother has albums for his family (x3). I’ve only just put them into chronological order because I found I was repeating photos.

  195. Lindsey Says:

As it stands, I don’t plan my albums at all! I scrap whatever story/photos are inspiring me at the moment, and I just stick them into the album as they are completed. At first, I didn’t have enough layouts about any one subject or time period to create separate albums, but now I’m getting to the point where I could probably start breaking them up. So, I think your workshop would be PERFECT! :) Thanks for the giveaway.

  196. Jenna Says:

well all my albums are pink (naturally) and I try to put them in the order of when the photos were taken! I live making mini albums for special events/memories too, although they are not always so pink :)

  197. Isabel Says:

I just started scrapbooking, so this class would be perfect for me!

  198. Crystal Says:

I SB photos that I like and then they just go into the album as the pages get finished. I plan my minis better – usually because space is limited so I limit the photos too. I’d love to be in this class – thanks so much for sharing it!!

  199. SabineK Says:

I´m not a good planner. So I had the problem to get the pages in the right order, to have enough sites, forget some photos and have not enough place. I need planning -I know.:)

  200. Lynley Johnson Says:

This class would be so amazing!! I recently reorganized my albums into different themes (as doing it chronologically was not working for me). I’m loving the creative freedom!!

  201. pidgen Says:

I have albums by year, and then special ones {mini ones about friendships, words, WITL} and the vacations. Would love to get a spot in the class!

  202. Monica Blain Says:

That class sounds wonderful! I could use something like that to get my summer scrapping jumpstarted.

  203. Laura Grimley Says:

Wow awesome comp! Well I’m trying to add continuity after watching other videos. But I haven’t been planning my albums but have realised that I need to learn how to do this. Keep making videos, I love glitter girl, I often watch it in my break at work. Laura :)

  204. J.leija Says:

I have my albums separated by theme: Asia, Europe, London, Family/Baby, Nephew, etc. Then I just make pages and file them away. I don’t ever really finish any of them and some have several volumes.

  205. Mackenzie Says:

Honestly my albums are a disorganized disaster! So I guess I really don’t have any certain way I plan them. I could really use this class :)

  206. Carol Hinrichsen Says:

I only have a PL album and one 12×12 album and everything goes in it… without any planing.. in fact as I finish a new page I reorganized the last ones to match at least the color palete when it is possible :) I just start thinking in planning after I saw the cover to cover class banner…

  207. Trisha Noland Says:

I really don’t plan further than what color album i want for the next year! I could really use this class!!

  208. Melanie Says:

It would be so cool to win this class. I need some motivation!
    Melanie O

  209. nicola Says:

I have just started scrapbooking and havent completed an album yet. When i do i guess i would go chronological with large events/holidays given their own book.

  210. vero the sahm Says:

I have several album, one for my DD, another one for my son. Then I have mine with layouts about my favorites theme. Of course I’ve made albums about our travels, but format is different. I have the feeling my albums are too strict, I need some fantasy !! Hoping I could win this class ! I dream about this.

  211. gem Says:

I have an album for each year of my little ones life but the thing is Ive got more pages for certain years so they seem to all flow into each other! would love the chance to win!

  212. Allie.Duckienz Says:

I don’t plan my albums but I use Stacy Julian’s Library of Memories approach. I want/need to go back through and create some section title pages but I don’t have enough full albums yet to plan really. That said, I want to do a couple of travel albums asap.

  213. Rena Says:

I tend to do my albums by theme, but I have lots of loose pages that don’t fit into any theme.

  214. Elaine Jarvis Says:

My boys are now 27 and 29 so I look through my pictures of them as children and scrap the ones I feel inspired by. Then I try to do a bit of current scapping along the way. Days out, holidays etc. The eldest has just got married so I want to do a complete album for them as well as some pages for myself.

  215. kazoulis Says:

I love making themed albums (holidays, travel etc). I select photos, then plan in which order they go and then select papers. Everything else comes in the process.

  216. Lynn Wigren Says:

I’ve been thinking for awhile that there is probably a better way than just throwing layouts into an album when their done.

  217. klaul Says:

I think my albums are sometimes a little too planned! I keep all my everyday layouts together , generally in the order I scrap but each of my holidays seems to have its own album! Really need to get them more organised!

  218. Ezlie Says:

I gather my photos first, then see what products I think I want to use – then I start sketching.

  219. Emilyn Wright Says:

Love this chance to win a spot! Thanks!

  220. Christine Says:

I have a album for daughter 1, 2 & 3. A album for each of my 3 grandchildren.I also have albums for my daughters weddings. These are all albums with work in progress and in a mess, as i tend to put pages in as i scrap them, and never get to sort. I do have completed albums for our wedding, our 25th wedding anniversary and JYC.

  221. Rachel B Says:

I’m not much of a planner either when it comes to scrapbooking…which explains the randomness of my albums! I haven’t actually scrapbooked properly in a while – I seem to have lost my mojo…maybe a new class is what I need to give me a kick up the proverbial and some much needed inspiration x

  222. Jennifer Says:

    The class sounds great.

  223. Nora Says:

I usually organize my layouts after the date of the story/photos. After reading your blog though I’ve considered other options and have been trying to rearrange some older layouts, from 2007 and earlier, into 1 travel album, 1 family celebrations album and 1 everyday album.. :) I’d love to win this class as I can’t afford it right now but I’m very interested in the topic!:D

  224. Carol G Says:

I don’t usually plan them, they are just done by date. Thanks for the chance to win! Love your classes.

  225. Sacha Says:

Right now I have all of my pages organized by year but nothing in albums..not much of a system. I would love to win a spot in this class! Thanks for the chance to win :)

  226. Tracy W Says:

I don’t usually plan albums but scrap whatever takes my fancy and then store them in albums chronologically – unless I have a lot of photos from one particular event (eg. holiday) and then they might go in a separate album, but again, I don’t usually plan the album.

  227. jimjams Says:

I’m a completely random scrapper most of the time – just scrapping whatever comes along next and popping it into my album once it’s dry. Holidays and my BOM are separate along with a couple of other projects. One day, I’ll have a major reorganise and put them into a more chronological order, but I’d rather scrap that file!

  228. Lisa H Says:

Plan is too strong a word for what I do with my albums. I used to just throw everything into one, but now they are loosely divided by “era” of my life. I do plan out theme albums and minis.

  229. Cathie Says:

I use Stacy Julian’s Library of Memories system so my pages go into albums based on “Us”, “People We Love”, “Things We Do” and “places we go”.

I’ve heard Shimelle talk about her albums on Paperclipping Roundtable and I’d love to learn more.

  230. Keitha Redmond Says:

I keep my albums by subject, with the pages in random order – I love the unpredictability of what’s on the next page. But with 20+ full albums and counting, I need to refine my system.
Very rarely will I preplan an entire album – usually for a past vacation or something where I already have all the photos.

  231. Jeannine H Says:

I gave myself the freedom to scrap what inspired me, as opposed to scrapping in chronological order, when I discovered Stacey Julian’s philosophy. I don’t follow it exactly, however, and I have some stacked up to put away so I’d love to win this class. I have taken 2 of your classes recently and I love them!

  232. chantal Says:

I don’t plan. with 2 small kids I’me happy of I got any scraping done. dont have a system.for my albums…. love to learn how to….

love your site, work and video’s!! you inspire me big time!!

  233. Jennyl Says:

My ‘works in progress’ are made up of an album for 2012 (albums for 2011 and 2010 both have a couple of pages to finish) an album for each of the children, one for my sister’s 50th birthday, random holidays, charity events, our round London walk (on page 2 – need to walk more/scrap less) and about 6 others – well it all make sense to me…

  234. So.Creative Says:

I usually plan my albums by theme or chronological order^^
I would love to win your class!

  235. Lora Oliver Says:

I have a baby/kids album, a vacation album, and an everything else album. That is about as much planning as they get.

  236. S Says:

The only planning I do is to color coordinate my albums – red for my daughter, blue for my son, green for vacations, etc. I scrap out of order and just rearrange the pages into a rough chronological sequence when it’s time to add a new album to the series. I am doing PL for the first time this year – so maybe that will get me into an album mindset – or maybe I need to take a class (wink, wink)!

  237. Becky Says:

Typically I don’t plan a album unless it’s for something specific like a big trip we take. I’ve been going off of prompts through challenges, Twelve (from Stacy Julian) and other classes. I typically just use photos I already have printed and/or use photos that I print twice a month.

  238. Tammy Davis Says:

Plan? Well. No, I don’t. I can’t seem to break away from the necessity to keep the pages in chronological order – no matter what. And I almost always do two page spreads (heaven forbid the two pages clash!). I wish I could do mini albums with a theme. Maybe someday! Shimelle, your classes are wonderful! Thanks for the chance to win!

  239. Wendy Says:

I organize by theme for large groups of photos that easily take up an album (Disney, Hawaii, Christmas, etc) and then chronologically for all the rest.

  240. CoCo Says:

I don’t scrap chronologically, but kind of follow Stacy Julian’s Library of Memories system with an album for each of my daughters, an ‘All about us’ for family layouts, Places we go, People we love (friends and outside our own family) and Things we do – which includes sections on work, farm life, etc. Some are chronologically arranged, but others are sectioned (even though there is no ‘section’ breaks yet!).

I use AC ring bound albums which allow me to change the order of layouts within an album easily. I’m glad I decided on some kind of system (even just the type of albums I use) early on before I invested in too many post bound albums, although I have a few which I intend to use for special topics (wedding, honeymoon, disney) and where the order won’t change. Thanks for the chance though – it’s always great to see others’ perspectives on albums, etc.

  241. martha Says:

Alas very little planning goes on, there are far too many memories to catch up on so the pages are all mixed up. Except my Project Life album since Jan 2012 which is in perfect order, yay! Thanks for the chance to win the class, it sounds like just what I need.

  242. val Says:

Wow for me and a friend, that would be amazing! I usually group my scrap books now by large event, family, my husband and I, or puppy. I am in the process now of changing over to the system and type of scrapbooks you use. This is huge project of course but I am excited about it!

  243. katharinehart Says:

i would love to win this class as i am off work with time to scrap as i have very badly sprained my ankle, falling off a kerb!!! clumsy is all i can say !! would love some crafty time and inspiration xxx katharine hart

  244. Mel Says:

Just found this wonderful site, i’m just starting out on crafting and scrapbooking after a break of 10 years due to ill health. So looking forward to the future.

  245. JulieFrog Says:

Ha, ha, ha, planning albums?! I’ve only just bought a few albums to try to arrange the growing stacks of layouts!

  246. Monica Says:

Plan an album?? Gosh I wish I was that organised!! I plan a layout literally to death before I’ll stick anything down. I’ve got about 1000 photos from a 3 month stint in Antarctica….. Where on earth would I begin planning with that!! Haha ;o)

  247. Kathy Says:

I have a series of albums that contain summer memories by the year, a series for my grandaughters that I can add to, albums for classes I have taken and also Project 365 books. But I am still challenged with each new project I take on.

  248. Janet N Says:

I’m strictly a chronological scrapper, so planning is just more of a sorting process. I usually “power layout” and separate pix by event, add any paper I know I want to use and stack it up to work on in order.

  249. Debra Stoner Says:

I’m from the “just do it” club. I scrap whatever new pictures or products I happen to have. Should probably get more organized :)

  250. Francine Says:

I don’t really plan my albums. I have a system loosely based on Stacy Julian’s Library of Memories ideas where I have certain albums for certain categories. Then I add completed pages in as I go. Actually, mainly I just leave them in piles……

  251. Anamaria Says:

I have never planned an album, which may explain why I have never been able to finish the one i started about my kids years ago. I tend to scrap pages based on the photos I have and what inspired me to get the page done. This sounds like the perfect course for me. Thanks for the opportunity.

Most of my albums are by year with exception of school albums and an album with random family pics. Can always try new ideas tho! Love this hobby:)

I have many albums but the ones I use most are the 3 Ring binder type from American Crafts. I start with the photos and then when I look and find the theme I plan the album, it doesn’t matter which order I scrap them because with these albums I can move the pages around. Would love to take part in this wonderful sounding class. x

I didn’t really plan my albums, but recently changed over to the D ring binders (having had them sitting there for a couple of years!) so now just scrap what I want when I want and put them in the album in a date order – as much as I can tell, going by the date of the photo. The styles can change depending on when I did it but I’m not worried about that and am much happier having this accessibility. Very excited about the class though as it’d be great to learn a different perspective.

Not much of a planner but I do have my pages in chronological order and I scrapbook whatever inspires me at the moment. I would love to learn more. Thanks for the chance to win !
