Re: Adding pic to my avatar
A guide to Avatars then!
To access your avatar settings:
*Click on 'User Control Panel' in the top left of the screen.
*Click on the 'Profile' tab
*Click 'Edit Avatar'
Avatars must be larger than 20x20 pixels and no bigger than 100x100 pixels, and smaller than 16Kb.
They can be .gif, .jpg or .png files.
If your avatar is on your computer, click 'browse' to select it, then 'submit' to save it.
If your avatar is online, copy the full address (including the 'http://') and paste it into the 'Upload from a URL' box. Then hit 'submit' to save it.
***This link that I mention later is probably easier and quicker than following these directions.***
If you're having trouble creating your avatar, double check that the image is 100x100 or smaller, then look for an option in your software like 'save for web'. This will strip the image of extra information that it holds when you perform a regular save function, and therefore the filesize is smaller. Also, try saving as a png or a gif -- it depends on the content of your image, but often you'll find the file size is smaller in these formats.
Keep in mind that the more colours in an image, the larger the file size will be. So you can have a lot more detail in a black & white image than you can in a full-colour photo.
Or possibly try this if your software doesn't want to play!
